Last Days in Santander

Last Days in Santander

I haven’t been updating my blog regularly because I wanted to really enjoy my last days in Spain. Also, every time I thought about how these were my last days, I’d get sad and not want to right about it. So these posts are coming from the United States. I’m home now and I’ve never been more sad about it. The last days in Spain were some of the best and with the next few blog posts you’ll see why leaving on April 25...Read More
Granada Day Three: Alhambra, Familiar Faces, Shopping, & More

Granada Day Three: Alhambra, Familiar Faces, Shopping, & More

I woke up at 6am and immediately started getting ready for the day. Usually, I wouldn’t be as enthusiastic to be up before the sun but it was all in the name of the Alhambra. I wrote an entire essay on the place for art class so going to the real thing was something I was looking forward too for the entire South Spain trip. After breakfast we began the trek to the Alhambra. Another all uphill trek that left my breathless but was...Read More
Granada Day Two: Cathedral, Flamenco, and the Biggest Paella Ever

Granada Day Two: Cathedral, Flamenco, and the Biggest Paella Ever

Today we were given the luxury of sleeping in and it was so nice. We didn’t leave the hotel until around 10am which gave me plenty of time to rest and eat breakfast before starting day one in Granada. The day started off with a visit to the cathedral which was conveniently located very close to our hotel. I’m so impressed with the cathedrals here and how absolutely beautiful the architecture is. We walked around, stopping to taking pictures along the way. At one...Read More
Córdoba and Granda Night One

Córdoba and Granda Night One

This morning was my last morning waking up in Seville. Wow, that's so sad to say. I’m going to miss this beautiful, warm, city so much. Seville has easily become one of my favorite cities in all of Spain. But all good things must come to an end so at 8am we said goodbye to Seville and rode off to the next destination: Córdoba. One of my favorite things about studying abroad is that you actually get to go to the places that you learn...Read More
Seville Day One: Real Alcazar, Santa Cruz, Flamenco, and more

Seville Day One: Real Alcazar, Santa Cruz, Flamenco, and more

I stepped outside and immediately fell in love with Seville. It's warm here. Like, really warm. So warm I don't need a jacket. Santander doesn't know what warm weather is so I'm embracing this as much as I can. And it's SUNNY here. And there aren't 22 mph winds. I love Santander but this weather is amazing and I'm really really grateful for it. We started the morning with breakfast and then a trip to the Real Alcazar which is a royal palace literally...Read More
Week Six in Santander: March 5-March 11

Week Six in Santander: March 5-March 11

I blinked and suddenly I'd been in Santander for six weeks. Time is flying. I think I've said that before but it really is. Every time I write one of these posts, I can't believe another week has passed. This week was rough, if I'm being honest with you all. I spent the first half of the week trying to catch up on all the lack of sleep from the London trip. And I spent it battling some sort of cold that has given...Read More
Week Five in Santander: Feb 26-March 4

Week Five in Santander: Feb 26-March 4

How is it already almost March? How have I been here for five weeks already? Time is flying and I want nothing more than for it to slow down. This week is going to be a short weekly update because I'm only going to be in  ~Santander~ for 3 days. If you're wondering why... IT'S BECAUSE I'M GOING TO LONDOOOOOON. We have our first long weekend of the trip so from Thursday to Sunday I'll be in London with 5 amazing people and I...Read More
Week Four in Santander: Feb 19-25

Week Four in Santander: Feb 19-25

Four weeks in Santander??? Whaaaaat? That's so crazy to me. Tomorrow, Feb 26, will make one month since beginning this journey abroad. Time is flying so fast and I'm having so much fun that I don't ever want this trip to end. This week consisted of: Starting new classes. Last week, I finished my first class (Intensive Spanish I). I am now taking a literature class which is so hard and kind of awful to be honest--remember reading Shakespeare in high school and having...Read More
Week Three in Santander: Feb 12-18

Week Three in Santander: Feb 12-18

Soooo I've been in Santander now for three (3!!!) weeks. That's so crazy and unreal to me. I've become really familiar with the city and know how to get almost anywhere now without getting lost. I feel like this city is my "home"--I no longer feel like I'm just here visiting. I can also feel myself getting better at Spanish. And I've become a regular at a cafe here and successfully completed class 1 of 5 so life is good if you ask me....Read More
Day Trip to Bilbao

Day Trip to Bilbao

The moment we stepped off the bus, I knew I was going to love Bilbao. Bilbao is about an hour away from Santander (where I'm living) by bus. It's in the Basque Country, an autonomous community of Spain, and it is absolutely beautiful. The architecture, the bridges, the Guggenheim, everything. I am obsessed! Me and three of my friends left for Bilbao at 9am via bus and got there at 10:30am. The bus ride was absolutely beautiful. I will never get over how gorgeous...Read More
